China will be getting a free-to-play MONSTER HUNTER MMO, which will be published by Tencent Games.

Instead of utilising one of Capcom’s own engines, the game will run on Crytek’s CryEngine3. And boy, can you tell the difference. Have a look for yourself with the game’s official trailer, uploaded by GamesHQMedia.

The game will be hitting the beta phase this June in China, where it currently only has plans to be released. Visit the official website here for some screenshots as well as some more information about the game, if you’re able to read Chinese.

This isn’t the first time the MONSTER HUNTER series has released an MMO; the Japanese exclusive MONSTER HUNTER FRONTIER ONLINE was released in 2007 for Windows, followed by an Xbox 360 port in 2010.

While you’re pondering the thought of a global release, why not give our MONSTER HUNTER 3 ULTIMATE review a read?
