Deadline is reporting that FROM HELL, Alan Moore’s and Eddie Campbell’s graphic tale of Jack the Ripper and his murderous rampage through the streets of Whitechapel, is to get the small screen treatment courtesy of FX.

Often hailed as one of the best graphic novels of all time, FROM HELL has never been out of print since its initial publication in 1989 and it was previously adapted for the big screen in 2001 with Johnny Depp and Robbie Coltrane starring.

CHILDREN OF MEN’s David Arata will write the series, whilst the original movie’s producer Don Murphy steps into the executive producer role.

Expect casting updates soon.
