Five Must-Have 4K UHD Epic Movies to Show Off Your Set-Up

Written By:

We’re celebrating the ninth anniversary of 4K discs arriving in UK stores by highlighting five of the best available in this spring’s Epic Movies promotion.  These 4Ks will knock your socks off in terms of audio-visual quality as well as cinematic excellence, check out the promotion here.

ALIEN: ROMULUS

Fede Álvarez went from rebooting Evil Dead to reinvigorating the Alien franchise in fine style. Acting as a direct sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 original, the 4K release is packed with informative extras that will have you want to dive into the world of facehuggers and Xenomorphs.

Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE

The first official Marvel outing for foul-mouthed mercenary Deadpool was everything fans wanted. Adding a returning Hugh Jackman as Wolverine made it one with plenty of re-watch factor, especially with all those delicious Easter eggs!

KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

The Apes have taken over in director Wes Ball’s entry into the Planet of the Apes series. With a great cast – led by Owen Teague, Freya Allan, and Kevin Durand – the advances in the special effects (even since Rise of the Planet of the Apes) are given a real chance to shine in the amazing 4K transfer.

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

Following the superb series Star Wars: Andor (Season 2 starts soon, and we’re so excited!), it’s time to reappraise this Star Wars film that tells the story of how the rebels got the Death Star plans to Princess Leia. Diego Luna is a standout and shows what a star he’d become when given his own time in the limelight.

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE

The oldest film in our list looks just as great as the newer movies, and is a brilliant adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ classic graphic novel. Directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass), the stiff upper lip of super spy Colin Firth contrasts wonderfully with Taron Egerton’s rough-and-ready prodigy. Considering it was one of the early 4K releases, it stands up amazingly and will put your home cinema through its paces.

Which movie tops your 4K chart? Which will you be adding to your collection?
The Epic Movies promotion is available now at Amazon, HMV, Rarewaves and Zavvi.
