Frank Grillo has taken to his Instagram account to reveal a first look at the actor as the villainous Crossbones.

Grillo appeared as Brock Rumlow in last year’s excellent Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with the ending of that movie seeing rogue Rumlow start to look a little more like his comic book alter-ego of Crossbones. For Captain America: Civil War, Rumlow will be going full-on Crossbones, as shown in the image below:

For those familiar with Marvel’s comic book world, they’ll know that Crossbones actually kills Steve Rogers at one point. Well, as dead as comic book deaths can be. Rogers would eventually return from his apparent grave, and during his absence the iconic Cap shield and mantle were taken up by the reformed Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes. What Crossbones’ role is in Civil War, that remains to be seen.

The official synopsis for the film reads:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

To be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain America: Civil War is set for a May 6th, 2016 release.
