We’ve
previously been given a brief look at the face of Bill Skarsgard’s as Pennywise
the clown from Andy Muschietti’s upcoming IT redo, but now comes a full look as
Skarsgard decked out as the eerie clown who has given so many such nightmares
over the years.

The image comes courtesy of EW, and Emmy-winning costumer designed Janie
Bryant told the outlet, “The costume definitely incorporates all
these otherworldly past lives, if you will. He is definitely a clown from a
different time. There is almost a doll-like quality to the costume. The pants
being short, the high waistline of the jacket, and the fit of the costume is a
very important element. It gives the character a child-like quality.”

This new take on Stephen King’s IT will see the source material
freshened up for a slightly more modern setting. Rather than the flashback
elements of the story taking place in the 1950s, those moments will be set in
the 1980s. Similarly, the present day part of the tale will take place in the
very real present day as oppose to the 1980s.

The current blurb on this redo reads:

Based
on the novel by Stephen King, the film’s story recalls a promise made
twenty-eight years ago that forces seven adults to reunite in Derry, Maine,
where as teenagers they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s
children. Unsure that their Losers Club had vanquished the creature all those
years ago, the seven had vowed to return to Derry if IT should ever reappear.
Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that
summer return as they prepare to do battle with the monster lurking in Derry’s
sewers once more.

As well as Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, the
film will also star Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillias, Jack Dylan
Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor as the younger versions
of the characters at the story’s core. The tale will be released as two
separate movies, with the first part focussing on the younger lives of the
Losers Club, whilst the second part will look at the adult versions of those
characters as they have to return to battle Pennywise once more.

At present, Stephen King’s IT Part One is set for a September 8th, 2017
release.
