Buckle up, for this is the last look we’re getting at HBO’s House Of The Dragon before the HBO Game of Thrones prequel series premieres this Sunday.

Subtitled “Fire Will Reign”, this latest promo begins with King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) warning: “The road ahead is uncertain, but the end is clear. We are better defended [against] whomever may dare to challenge us. The threat of war looms.” The series is set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

As fans of George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood will know, the ruling family is about to face a civil war known as the Dance Of Dragons, which ended in Aegon III (who would become known in history as Aegon the Dragonbane, so named because the last dragon would die during his reign) sitting on the Iron Throne. The event marked the beginning of the end of House Targaryen.

House of the Dragon stars an impressive cast, including Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, and Sonoya Mizuno as  Mysaria.

House of the Dragon premieres Sunday, August 21st, on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. New episodes of the 10-episode season will debut weekly. Here’s to hoping this will make us forget the horrors of GoT’s eighth season.
