If you’re a TV or a movie fan, you’ll know the frustration of watching a series or a new release, only to find its ending disappointing. It may be that you watch a storyline unfold, discovering huge plot holes along the way, and other missed opportunities.
As fans often invest a lot of unanticipated time and money in these products, it’d be great if there was a site, run by said movie fans, where people could offer their opinion on how the storyline or narrative could be improved. This could even serve as inspiration for producers and show-runners to respond to fan expectations.
New “what if” scenarios could be explored, with fans being given the power to essentially rewrite cinematic history.
A Fan Review Portal with a Twist
A platform like this would work best if it combined facts with fiction. Having the platform work as a movie review website, with a strong emphasis on suggestions on how the plot could have unfolded better, would be a great approach.
Here, it would be possible to take inspiration from other review sites that already exist. This could include movie review sites, but also other entertainment verticals too. For example, music review websites often go into the instruments used, the production and bonus tracks. Having a dedicated section for movie scores could be an idea, with suggestions from fans to improve the soundscape. A casino review website typically delves into welcome bonuses and deals, along with a breakdown of each offering, and even suggesting the experience fans can expect when using each sites.
Having a section of the movie review site devoted to the streaming platforms hosting the movies listed, the prices they are charging, and suggestions for where people can watch the movie online and in person, would work well for new fans who are interested in giving it a go. Detailing options like subtitle availability would also help with accessibility.

A Submission Portal for Alternative Endings
Having a submission portal for alternative endings is our main selling point here. This could be applied to movies and TV shows. One example would be in Megapolis, which came out in September. It was a commercial failure, grossing $14.3 million with a budget of $130 million. In the story, Cesar completes his city thanks to the support of the people. A better, alternative ending could have involved his vision being met with an uprising, where people oppose his idea. Not only would this have setup for a possible sequel, it would also provide conflict, because even though the idea is noble and just, that doesn’t mean that people are ready for such a drastic change.
The platform could even encourage fan engagement on a deeper level, with competitions run every month where fans submit their own movie or TV show improvements, with the winner getting virtual trophies to display on their profile. Things like this would not only support an established user base, but would also encourage people to be more creative in their approach to movie reviews, investing more time in them while crafting compelling narratives that would more than appeal to the target demographic.
Could we see something like this happen in the future? Hopefully, the potential is certainly there, and it would be a movie critic’s dream.
