Now in its fifth year, The Durham Fringe Festival brings fringe theatre to the ancient English city.

Running from July 23rd to 27th, the Durham Fringe is still finding its own vibe but is already growing to become a unique and important part of the UK’s network of fringe theatre, feeding into the arts culture that is such an important and unique part of the UK. Let’s take a look at five shows we think STARBURST readers will enjoy.

Mission to Mars
A comedy musical about a school trip to Mars that lets the audience join in as a team of plucky students explore the science of the red planet.

It’s Your Role
Enjoy more audience participation fun with this fantasy TTRPG inspired comedy show. A member of the public is invited to join a troupe of professional actors on a fantasy adventure. This is your chance to take on the critical role of a fantasy hero.

Who Stole My Hammer?

This family-focused show asks the real questions, like who were The Vikings, who was Thor, and did Loki steal his hammer?  Part educational, part storytelling and mostly mayhem, this show promises to entertain everyone. Except maybe Loki.

Atomic Cabaret
A one women cabaret show about the history of the atomic bomb which is also a fund-raiser for CND?  It sounds like a fascinating evening’s worth of entertainment, sure to evoke a chain reaction from the audience to us.

The Witching Hour
A sharp and satirical take on justice, celebrity culture and being popular, The Witching Hour is a show about a wicked game show in which only the tallest tale tellers can hope to survive. Sounds like a great look at modern popculture to us.
