FrightFest is nearly upon us, and we have five films that you need to have on your schedule.

THE TOXIC AVENGER
The wait is nearly over! Two years after its debut, the world can finally revel in the gory delights of Macon Blair’s reimagining of the Troma classic. You don’t have to be a fan of the original to love this, but you certainly need the sensibilities and love for the irreverent.
Screens on Friday, August 22nd at 8.20pm in Main Screen Odeon Luxe Leicester Square

THE DEGENERATE: THE LIFE AND FILMS OF ANDY MILLIGAN
A touching and enlightening look at a character who was always beyond the fringe of ‘regular’ Hollywood. Josh and Grayson Tyler Johnson’s film shines fresh light on the director’s life and work, and will leave viewers wanting to dig into Milligan’s wild world. All the documentaries at FrightFest are great, but this one deserves to be seen!
Screens on Friday, August 22nd at 1.10pm in Discovery Two Odeon Luxe West End

THE SERPENT’S SKIN
Alice Maio Mackay returns to FrightFest with this cool-looking horror romance that sees Anna (Alexandra McVicker) leave her transphobic home town to live with her sister. She forms friendships with a charismatic punk, Danny (Jordan Dulieu), and a captivating goth, Gen (Avalon Fast). When Gen tattoos a demon on Danny, it begins to manifest and target those close to the pair. Confident and sympathetic, Mackay’s story is a modern voyage of self-discovery with literal demons to face.
Screens on Monday, August 25th at 6.15pm in Discovery One Odeon Luxe West End

SUPER HAPPY FUN CLOWN
The fear of clowns isn’t the focus of the latest film from Patrick Rea (They Wait in the Dark), it’s the fear of not being successful. Jennifer Seward is brilliant as the murderous jester who’s very much a product of her environment. She remains sympathetic despite her atrocious actions, the film goes beyond its horror leanings and delivers a thought-provoking human drama.
Screens on Sunday, August 24th at 4pm in Discovery One Odeon Luxe West End

Film festivals should always have crowd pleasers – movies that are a riotous shared experience. Director William Bagley gives a quiet, suburban community that has to fight off the hordes of Hell one day a year. It provides the laughs, action – and, importantly, at a horror festival – the gore. A joyous experience.
