With the upcoming Kong: Skull Island existing in the same universe as Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla, Kong and Big G are set for a huge crossover movie in the future. But with that in mind, just how big is this new incarnation of Kong going to be? Well, it seems he’s going to be pretty huge!

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been speaking to Entertainment Weekly about how we can expect to see a far bigger Kong than what we’ve become accustomed to over the years.

Vogt-Roberts revealed, “From the size of the skull , you can tell that things on this island are much bigger than audiences are used to with traditional Kong lore. Our Kong is by far the biggest Kong that you’ve seen on screen, and that translates to a lot of different things on the island. Peter Jackson’s Kong was around 25 feet. The ’33 Kong ranged between 25 feet and 50 feet, I was to say he was 50-plus feet when he was on the Empire State Building. He varied in size dramatically! The ‘70s Kong was somewhere between them. The thing that most interested me was, how big do you need to make him so that when someone lands on this world of social and civil unrest, and everything is crumbling around us, and technology and facts are taking over – how big does this creature need to be so that when you stand on the ground and you look up at it, the only thing that can go through you mind is: ‘That’s a god.’”

This latest Kong effort will focus on a group of explorers who venture deep into the depths of a primordial island in the search for a lost brother and a possibly-mythical serum. Of course, it’s not that easy, with various creatures filling the path that they have chosen to tread.

Currently set for a March 10th, 2017 release, Kong: Skull Island will star Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Kebbell, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Jing Tian, Shea Whigham and John Ortiz.
