Scream Queens and American Horror Story star Emma Roberts is the latest addition to the ensemble cast of Sony Pictures’ Madame Web, per a Deadline exclusive.
On board director S.J. Clarkson‘s film so far are headlining star Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced and Tahar Rahim. As with every other casting announcement so far, Roberts’ role in Madame Web is unknown and unguessable.
All we know so far of the next entry into Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters is that it will be an origin story of the clairvoyant mutant, whose psychic abilities allow her to see into the ‘spider world’. With casting still ongoing, fans will likely have to wait a little longer before plot and character details start to be unveiled.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (the writing duo behind Sony’s Morbius) penned the screenplay from a draft by Kerem Sanga. Up next for Sony will be J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, which is set for release on January 13th, 2023, while Madame Web will spin into cinemas on July 7th, 2023.
Emma Roberts will next be seen in the rom-com Maybe I Do, in which she stars opposite Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Richard Gere.
