Edinburgh Comic Con will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April, and tickets are still available here until midnight on Sunday March 27th, after which payment on the door will be required.

The con will feature a number of talks and panels with guests including Patricia Tallman (Babylon 5’s Lyta Alexander); veteran sci-fi actor Cas Anvar (recently of Syfy’s The Expanse) and professional cosplayer Tabitha Lyons. Other panels range from major properties like 2000 AD, Star Wars and Game of Thrones, to more personal discussions like the rising popularity of fan films and indie comics creators dissecting their work and the current state of the industry.

Other guests include several actors from Game of Thrones: Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel), Ian Hanmore (Qarth’s creepy warlock Pyat Pree) and Kerry Ingram (Shireen Baratheon, daughter of Stannis); Paul Blake (Star Wars’ Greedo, who will likely spend much of the weekend being asked who he says shot first); and Jimmy Vee, who has portrayed numerous aliens on Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures and, although not officially confirmed, is widely speculated to be playing R2D2 in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a comic con without guests from the world of comics, and a few in attendance include John Lees and Iain Laurie, the creators of And Then Emily Was Gone (which if you haven’t read you should rectify as soon as possible), writers Gordon Rennie (Rogue Trooper, Missionary Man, Rain Dogs) and Emma Beeby (Judge Dredd, Swords of Sorrow), and artists such as Jim Calafiore (Exiles, Gotham Underground, Deadpool); Chris Burnham (Batman Incorporated, Nixon’s Pals, Officer Downe); Jorge Jimenez (Arrow, Smallville Season 11, Earth 2: World’s End, Earth 2: Society); and Tom Raney (Stormwatch, Thor, Uncanny X-Men, Outsiders).

Having relocated to a far bigger venue the con now has space for prop displays; sci-fi vehicles from film & TV; a cinema area for a screening of cult comedy Electric Man (in which chaos ensues after the owners of a comic book shop come into possession of the world’s rarest comic); a gaming area where the tabletop Halo: Fleet Battles will be showcased; and the opportunity to take a Water Dance class from Syrio Forel himself (pre-booking required).

Finally, everything will be rounded off with a Cosplay Championship, where dozens of fans will strut their stuff as their favourite characters.
