DOOM forever changed the boundaries of what a game could be and inadvertently laid down the foundations for future first person shooters to follow. Co-creator John Romero has stated that he’s started working on a brand new shooter, though it’s still very much in its infancy.

Speaking to the folks over at Super Joystiq Podcast, Romero revealed ‘I haven’t made a shooter since 2000 (DAIKATANA). So I’m basically starting to work on another one”, going on to state that he’s already getting the grunt work done and had ‘some cool imagery’ together for the protagonist.

With games like Destiny shaking up the FPS genre and the goretastic reimaging of the original DOOM, It’ll be with baited breath we wait for Romero’s post-DOOM creation.
