Now we hugely enjoyed last year’s CURSE OF CHUCKY relaunch of the CHILD’S PLAY franchise. Whilst a further film in the series was suggested, now comes confirmation from creator Don Mancini that he’s working on the script for a follow-up. Not only that, the writer/director is also keen on a potential crossover with THE CONJURING’s Annabelle doll (soon to be seen in her very own film – a review of which can be found here.)

Mancini confirmed to USA Today that he is indeed writing a seventh Chucky-centric film, adding, “I am hoping that at some future point we have Annabelle and Chucky team up. I can see that (even) in 20 years from now.”

When then asked about a possible cameo from Annabelle in Chucky’s next outing, he added, “We would be into it, the only problem is that we are in different studios. That would probably be years’ worth of red tape to work it out. But if it all could be worked out, then yes, we’re very into it.”

The prospect of any sort of crossover or team-up seems a distant reality at this stage, although ANNABELLE’s director, John Leonetti, actually acted as the director of photography back on 1991’s CHILD’S PLAY 3. Treat the Annabelle appearance as purely rumour at this stage, but we’re just happy to hear that Mancini has confirmed that he is now working on the script for another film in the iconic CHILD’S PLAY series.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
