After years in development, Deadpool is finally set to hit the big screen next month. One of the biggest concerns amongst fans was that the beloved Merc with a Mouth would have his balls cut off and end up with a PG-13 movie. Luckily, those fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief.

The MPAA has officially given 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool an R-rating, citing that the film features “strong violence and language throughout, sexual content and graphic nudity.” Phew! After all, Wade Wilson is a character surrounded by extreme language, graphic violence, and plenty of sexual overtones.

The official synopsis for Deadpool reads:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Ryan Reynolds is on board as the titular Merc with a Mouth, and he’s joined by T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carrano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus, and Ed Skrein as the villainous Ajax.

Incidentally, to get you in the mood for what promises to be one of the most enjoyable movies of the year, a new TV spot has also been released:

Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool is released in the UK on February 10t before a global release on February 12th.
