With Deadpool now being championed by all quarters these days, the Merc with a Mouth’s solo cinematic bow is continuing to impress at the global box office.

The Ryan Reynolds-starrer has again run roughshod over the global box office for a second weekend running, bringing the film’s current worldwide intake in at a cool $491.1 million. In amongst that figure is a North American total of $235.4 million, which has seen Deadpool, in just 10 days of release in that market, already pass X-Men: Days of Future Past’s North American total of $233.9 million. And based on current predictions, it’s looking like Tim Miller’s movie is well on its way to becoming the most successful R-rated film of all-time, with that record currently residing with The Matrix Reloaded and that film’s take of $742.1 million.

What’s even more impressive is that Deadpool only actually cost $58 million to make, meaning that the already-confirmed sequel was a total no-brainer. As such, don’t be expecting the Merc with a Mouth to be going away any time soon… and that most definitely is a good thing.
