This morning brings
word that the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has added a new cast member to
its ranks.

TV
Line
reports that Mr. Robot’s
Stephanie Corneliussen has landed the role of Valentina Vostok. The show’s description
of the character has her pinned as “a
gifted and beautiful Soviet physicist who will stop at nothing to defend her
precious Motherland.”
Given that the show itself will heavily feature time
travel, Vostok will appear in an episode that will take place at the height of the
Cold War. Additional news has her down as having The Atom and Captain Cold
fighting for her affection.

In the comic book realm, Valentina Vostok debuted way back
in Showcase #94, initially depicted
as a Russian pilot who was defecting to the US but who ends up becoming
Negative Woman after a meeting with the Doom Patrol.

The official word on DC’s
Legends of Tomorrow
reads:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends.
Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening,
time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of
both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not
only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team
defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

Corneliussen joins a
cast that features Brandon Routh as The Atom, Victor Garber as Martin Stein,
Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, Caity Lotz as
White Canary, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, Falk
Hentschel as Hawkman, and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson. As for the big bad,
Casper Crump will be playing the immortal Vandal Savage.

DC’s Legends of
Tomorrow
will debut next year.
