Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya will not be reprising his role in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, Rotten Tomatoes reports.
Kaluuya played W’Kabi in Ryan Coogler’s 2018 MCU film, the best friend and confidant to T’Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), head of security for the Border Tribe, and husband to Okoye (Danai Gurira). Gurira is expected to return for the sequel, which is being titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while Letitia Wright is confirmed to star as T’Challa’s genius younger sister, Shuri.
Also confirmed to return are Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross. Wakanda Forever will also introduce Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart ahead of the Disney+ series premiere, and Michaela Coel in an unconfirmed role.
So far, very little is known about the sequel’s plot, but it has been said that it will honour the late Chadwick Boseman while expanding on the world of Wakanda.
Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya revealed that he had to back out of the Marvel film due to scheduling conflicts with Jordan Peele’s horror-thriller Nope – which releases this month.
If everything goes according to plan, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due to release November 11th, 2022.
