With Jason Reitman now at work on a new Ghostbusters movie, the picture has made its first casting moves.

Via Variety, Reitman’s film – which is seemingly to be titled Ghostbusters 3 – has brought in Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard. Coon is likely best known to genre fans for Fargo and as Proxima Midnight in Avengers: Infinity War, whilst Wolfhard is making quite the name for himself after impressing in Stranger Things and IT.

For Ghostbusters 3, it’s believed that Coon and Wolfhard will be playing a single mother and her son.

Jason Reitman – the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman – has put together a screenplay with Gil Kenan, and the plan is for this new movie to head into production this summer ahead of a 2020 release.

The current word is that Ghostbusters 3 will serve as a direct follow-up to the world of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II but will ignore the happenings of 2016’s female-driven reboot.
