With M. Night Shyamalan having been working away on the Tales from the Crypt redo that now may or may not be happening, now comes word on another new take on an old favourite.

As per Crave, Bryan Fuller is developing the new incarnation of Amazing Stories. Initially created by Steven Spielberg and debuting in 1985, the anthology series was overflowing with elements of sci-fi, fantasy and horror – much like our very own fine publication. During its run, Amazing Stories saw director guest spots for huge names such as Martin Scorsese, Tobe Hooper, Joe Dante, Tom Holland, and, of course, Spielberg himself.

Coming out of this past weekend’s SXSW event, Fuller revealed that he and his team are currently working on a bunch of scripts for this new take – something which was first loosely announced a few years ago now. Joining Fuller in putting these tales together are Jane Goldman, Emily Gordon, Patton Oswalt, and Kumail Nanjiani.

On this development, Fuller enthused, “We are working on a variety of scripts from a variety of sources, and we’ve got a lot of really great writers involved. So it feels like I’m curating the Amazing Stories magazine. Yeah, so that’s very exciting because I get to collaborate with other writers and just let them do their thing under that umbrella, which is a relief.”

As ever, expect more on this new Amazing Stories as it develops.
