Marvel has tapped Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness to pen the next Avengers film, titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Deadline reports.

Loveness appears like a good choice to write Avengers 5, given he is familiar with its anticipated main villain, Kang the Conqueror (played by Jonathan Majors), who will be reintroduced in Quantumania after a variant of the character debuted in Loki‘s season one finale. As fans learned in that fateful episode, Kang is a 31st-century scientist who discovered the existence of the Multiverse and sought to control it, only to end up at war with his variants in a struggle to dominate the many timelines. The victorious variant then established the TVA to conserve the ‘sacred timeline’. Of course, that all blew up when *spoiler* Sylvie decided to kill He Who Remains/Kang.

Loveness joins Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton on the project, the latter of whom was confirmed to direct just a few days after the film was announced at San Diego Comic-Con.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to release on May 2nd, 2025, and will be followed six months later by Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7th, 2025.
