With Ashley J. Williams and those nefarious Deadites having been thrust back into the spotlight with Starz’s brilliant Ash vs. Evil Dead series, star Bruce Campbell isn’t ruling out a return to the big screen for Ash.

Of course, a fourth Evil Dead picture – Fede Alvarez’s reboot notwithstanding – has been mooted for decades now, with the last cinematic outing for Ash being 1992’s Army of Darkness. That means for 25 years or so, we’ve heard rumblings of Evil Dead 4 happening. Even after that redo, there was talk that there could be a crossover of sorts between the original franchise and Alvarez’s remake, with Ash potentially teaming up with Jane Levy’s Mia. In fact, there’s even a post-credits scene for the Evil Dead remake that sees Campbell’s Ash rock up to tease just such a happening.

Ash vs. Evil Dead has just started its third season over in the US, and it remains to be seen whether this will be the final season of the show. If Starz does indeed decide to cancel the show once Season 3 is in the books, that could well lead to a silver screen return for the franchise.

Speaking to EW, Campbell discussed what could happen should Ash vs. Evil Dead get canned. “We won’t know till the middle of March,” he explained. “We’re in the horrible television limbo right now. If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie. And if they don’t, we can just keep plugging away.”

It seems that regardless of what happens to Ash vs. Evil Dead, we’re going to keep on getting plenty more Evil Dead action in some form – and that is most certainly groovy by us.

As ever, expect more on all things Evil Dead as we get it.
