Despite only two episodes having aired so far, Starz has moved to renew American Gods for a second season.

On this news, the network’s Carmi Zlotnik enthused, “Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods.”

The series is adapted from the award-winning work of the legendary Neil Gaiman, with an impressive ensemble cast made up of the likes of Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Orlando Jones, Gillian Anderson, and Peter Stormare.

In terms of an official synopsis for American Gods, that reads as below:

The plot of American Gods posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

American Gods is available on Amazon Prime in the UK.
