While there’s still another two seasons confirmed to be on the way, it looks as if the end is nearly in sight for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Speaking during a recent Captain Marvel press junket, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg seemed to confirm that the show will be finishing after its seventh season.

As Gregg explained, “The announcement I read was two more seasons, six and seven. I can’t wait for people to see Season 6. People who have been on the journey with me and with Phil Coulson are going to get something very, very different.”

To date, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has aired five seasons with two more ordered by ABC. If the seventh season is indeed to be the last, that would mean the series will likely air its final episode in 2020. As for the upcoming Season 6, that’s due to premiere this May.

For Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson, this month’s Captain Marvel marks Coulson’s first big-screen appearance since being killed off by Loki in the first Avengers movie.
