With Bionic Woman: The Complete Series soon to be hitting DVD, we’ve managed to get hold of three copies of the release to give away to some of our lucky readers. This new take on a classic show sadly only ran for one season back in 2007, but during that time it managed to amass quite the following.

To be in with a chance of winning yourself one of these prizes, simply answer the below question:

The Bionic Woman’s Michelle Ryan made her name on which UK soap opera?

a) Emmerdale

b) Crossroads

c) Eastenders

E-mail your answer, along with your address details, to  [email protected] labelled Bionic Woman before midnight on Sunday, April 24th.

The official press release on this new DVD package reads:

Join one of TV’s most stunning breakout heroines as the action-packed series Bionic Woman leaps onto DVD! It was written and produced by David Eick – not to be confused with nutjob David Icke – though if he had directed it, it probably wouldn’t have been cancelled after the first series.

The series was a re-imagining of the original television series, The Bionic Woman, which in turn was based upon the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin and its TV adaptation The Six Million Dollar Man.

Starring Michelle Ryan (Eastenders’ Zoe “You ain’t my mother!” Slater), Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan, Robocop), Molly Price (Third Watch), Will Yun Lee (Witchblade), Lucy Kate Hale (How I Met Your Mother), and guest stars Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) and Katee Sackhoff (24, Battlestar Galactica).

Up to $6m was spent per episode of Bionic Woman and at least 3 versions of the pilot episode were produced. In addition, more than $15m was spent marketing the show’s launch, with the first episode attracting 13 million viewers. They only aired eight episodes before the Writers Guild of America Strike halted production.

Synopsis: Struggling as a bartender and surrogate mum to her teenage sister, Jaime Sommers didn’t think life could get much harder. But when a devastating car accident leaves her at death’s door, her only hope for survival is a cutting-edge, top-secret technology that comes at a hefty price, owing to the crazy health insurance costs in the US. If she had stayed in Walford, she could have got most of it done on the NHS – though admittedly some of it is a little bit beyond Dr Legg’s capabilities.

Jaime’s modifications include: bionic legs, a bionic right arm, a bionic right ear, a bionic eye – and nanomachines called anthrocytes which are capable of healing her body at a highly accelerated rate. Pretty much all of this is now available through Obamacare

As Ryan is from England and naturally speaks with received pronunciation, she affects a pretty good American accent. One notable exception to this occurs in the episode “The Education of Jaime Sommers”, when Jaime assumes the guise of a British exchange student. Ryan mastered Krav Maga, a martial art developed by the Israeli special forces for the role. And Peggy Mitchell taught her to bitch slap.

Bionic Woman: The Complete Series is released on April 18th.
