These days, there are almost too many places online and on television to access TV shows and new movies. We are now used to being able to access just about any range of content we could possibly want at just the click of a button, or the touch of a screen. For example, using Picture Box on Virgin you can gain access to a monthly selection of excellent films, and using your cable provider’s On Demand services you can catch entire seasons of your favorite shows. All in all, the convenience in streaming that we experience today is unprecedented.

However, one negative effect of this huge range of streaming options is that with so much available content it can be tough to keep tabs on what’s new, or what’s good! So with that in mind, here’s a rundown of 10 of the best sci-fi and fantasy shows currently on TV…

10. Supernatural (The CW)
This long popular series is perhaps a bit drawn out at this point, but its ongoing chronicle of two brothers – the Winchesters – who hunt supernatural villains has been undeniably engaging.

9. Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz)
Loosely fitting in the “fantasy” genre, this show chronicles a fictional account of da Vinci’s early years, featuring Tom Riley in the role of the world’s greatest “Renaissance Man.”

8. Revolution (NBC)
This post-apocalyptic sci-fi show has some serious names behind it (JJ Abrams and Jon Favreau among them), but despite some success has yet to earn a major following.

7. Falling Skies (TNT)
Starring Noah Wyle of “ER” fame, this humans vs. aliens sci-fi epic of a TV show is starting to gather a serious fan base.

6. Walking Dead (AMC)
The final word on post apocalyptic, zombie survival drama, and despite some complaints about writing and consistency, that’s enough to be one of the highest rated genre shows on TV.

5. Merlin (Syfy)
Although finished, Merlin is a perfect example of what’s great about On Demand. Catch up with this British produced show that is playful and unique, but oddly engaging, covering fictional accounts of Merlin and his tie-ins with the King Arthur of legend.

4. Grimm (NBC)
About to debut its 3rd season in October, “Grimm” is an exciting police drama that entwines the fairy tales and fantasy inspired by the Brothers Grimm with modern life and crime.

3. Once Upon A Time (ABC)
This unique fantasy show takes classic fairy tale characters and thrusts them into real-life Maine, where they combat new conflicts without their storybook memories.

2. True Blood (HBO)
This smart, sexy, and action-packed vampire (and other magical creature) drama has been immensely popular for years now.

1. Game Of Thrones (HBO)
Based on the sweeping series by George R.R. Martin, GoT recently concluded its 3rd season, and has become the biggest sensation on television.
