SHOWMAN KILLER VOLUME 1

Quite often it is difficult to pick a newly released sci-fi graphic novel, especially with the ever-increasing amount of good stories being produced. Titan Comics have yet again picked an incredible story to publish. Originally published in France, Titan Comics are bringing the graphic novel to the UK audience, and we are thankful for that.

A hard-hitting sci-fi tale for adults, the novel starts with the clique creation of the greatest assassin in the universe. However, the way the author has done this is by the use of a psychotic sperm collector who wishes to collect the perfect genes for his creation. Without spoiling the beginning, it is quite a psychotic start to the novel, and this should definitely be limited to adult readers. Once past this point, we get to explore the character of Showman Killer, who is the perfect addition to the sci-fi universe. He is a man without any empathy, and seeks a life of solitude whilst making money for his services. Luckily the novel does take a different path to what would be expected, and ends on a cliffhanger that leaves us waiting to grab volume 2.

The art is truly stunning in this novel, and Titan Comics have done a terrific job of showcasing that full scope of the story. Although Showman Killer takes centre stage in this novel, the author has created intriguing characters, ready to exploit societies for their own gain. They have also managed to create a character with such an air of mystery and have left the novel on such a cliffhanger, that the story could now go in an unpredictable direction. Titan Comics have really created a stunning first volume to this series, with an epic plot and intriguing characters, this is a stand out graphic novel.
