Good kids shows are pretty common, but truly excellent family shows are pretty rare. Doktor Kaboom! Is a family show aimed at teaching young children some science basics in a way that will serve them well in the future.
The good Doktor is a well-spoken chap who looks and sounds like your stereotypical mad-scientist. From the lab-coat, to the googles and the hair, every aspect of his persona is carefully chosen to be fun for kids, un-surprising for adults and a delight in general.
The show itself is about pressure. Both the scientific term which can alter states of matters, and the word used in society to describe how external elements can alter a human’s state of mind. The good Doktor spends plenty of time explaining the difference, and the show is an education to both adults and children.
As for the explosion’s promised by the show’s title? Well they are certainly very loud. At no point will you ask yourself “Where’s the Kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering Kaboom!” You will hear the impressive Kaboom. (And yes, ample warning is given for those of us with a nervous disposition.
Doktor Kaboom! Under Pressure! is an amazing family show, sure to delight everyone in the room. This is a treat for kids, certainly, but the adults will also have a lot of fun as the cartoon-like Doktor navigates the difficult worlds of both science and keep children entertained with a skill that we can only describe as magical.
Strongly recommended, especially for any budding scientists.
