RWBY Fairy Tales of Remnant

RWBY Fairy Tales

RWBY is a cult animated series from the people who brought you the Halo inspired parody Red vs Blue. The show is known for its breath-taking action sequences and vast amounts of exposition. The world building in RWBY is heavily fairy tale inspired, though there’s plenty of explosions and ‘super powers’ thrown in for good measure. RWBY Fairy Tales of Remnant takes stories already told in the show and adds context, pretty pictures and some extra tales to create a sort of ‘in-world’ artefact for fans to enjoy.

If you’re not familiar with the cult hit then this book will look like a collection of quite weird fairy tales from a place that doesn’t exist. The writing style is pretty straight forward and simplistic, but that’s on purpose; these are meant to be fairy tales. There’s an interesting blend of myth and science with some of the stories, which is fitting for the world of Remnant. They are also some tantalising ideas that fit quite snugly into the show’s growing story; something that will delight fans.

We also get in-universe notes that add some flavour to the whole affair but don’t really add anything; except to remind us that this book is based on an animated show. The artwork throughout is incredibly satisfying; Violet Tobacco nails the ‘not quite a children’s story book’ vibe for the entire work. The colour palette is also amazing and of course, fits in perfectly with the world of RWBY.

Overall this is a treat for fans and an ideal gift for the RWBY fan in your life.
