As Swamp Thing continues to flesh out its core cast, the live-action DC Universe exclusive has found its ‘big bad’.

Via Deadline, Will Patton has landed the role of General Avery Sunderland. That character is a longtime comic book character, with him and his Sunderland Corporation looking to discover the mystical mysteries of the swamp that Alec Holland resides within. As for Patton, he’s a favourite of many a genre fan thanks to the likes of Falling Skies, Armageddon, and this year’s Halloween.

Already on board for Swamp Thing are Derek Mears as the titular Elemental, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, and Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland.

Swamp Thing will premiere next year on DC Universe.
