With the character set to debut in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it’s now been confirmed that Pom Klementieff’s Mantis will be a part of Anthony and Joe Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The actress herself revealed the news, taking to her Instagram page to confirm that she’s headed to Atlanta, Georgia to start work on the film. As it happens, production on Infinity War will actually start today in Atlanta, and now we know that Mantis will be joining the huge ensemble of Marvel heroes who will be coming together to take down the ominous threat of the Mad Titan, Thanos. Of course, her Guardians 2 cohorts will be joining Mantis, with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Dave Bautista’s Drax, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon, and Vin Diesel’s Groot all previously confirmed as being part of a movie that will also feature the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Doctor Strange, and Brie Larson’s debuting Captain Marvel.

Here’s the main social media post from Klementieff, and she also posted a picture of her in an Infinity War hat:

The current plan is for Avengers: Infinity War to be released on May 4, 2018, and the Russo Brothers are shooting Infinity War and its still-to-be-titled follow-up back to back ahead of that second film’s May 3, 2019 release.

Before Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take to the big screen once more, though, Mantis will be introduced to audiences when James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released on May 5th. For those unfamiliar with the character, in the comic book realm Mantis has been a member of The Avengers at various points, and her main abilities involve meditation and telepathic powers as well as being able to kick some serious tail with her expansive martial arts training.
