It looks as if the Chris Pine/DC Cinematic Universe speculation can now be put to bed.

At first it was believed that the Star Trek actor was up for the role of Wonder Woman’s love interest, Steve Trevor, in the DCCU. Then came word that the talk of the Trevor gig was all merely a smokescreen and that the actor was actually up for the role of Hal Jordan in Warner Brothers’ Green Lantern Corps.

Well, The Wrap is now reporting that Chris Pine has finally signed on to join the DCCU and that his role with indeed be that of Steve Trevor. Warner Brothers has yet to make an official comment on this news.

The character of Trevor first appeared way back in 1942’s All Star Comics #8, depicted as a US solider who crash lands on Paradise Island. Over the decades, he’s been rebooted many a time (who hasn’t though?) yet still remains as a love interest for the famed Amazon.

To be directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is currently set for a June 23rd, 2017 release. Before that, Gal Gadot’s Diana will make her debut in next March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and is also expected to play a large role in Zack Snyder’s two-part Justice League.
