LEGO are set to announce their 2,996-piece S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier set at next month’s New York Toy Fair.

The LEGO version of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s super-cool fortress in the clouds is 31 inches long, 11 inches high, 17 inches wide. This includes the two runways, fighter jets, Quinjets, and ground-support vehicles. A rather splendid looking control centre can be found underneath the runway.

Minifigs included in the set will be Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye, plus some generic S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents – no Coulson, but you could always creatively modify one of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, we suppose.

The set will be on sale in March, and will set you back about $350 US, or £230 in proper money.

Eagle-eyed fans of the world famous construction toy got their first sneak peak of the toy via LEGO’s official YouTube channel. A snapshot of the huge model can be seen (very briefly) in opening sequences of the Detective’s Office & Barber Shop 10246 DESIGN video in the G, to be exact.
