London has proven to the world time and time again that it can host a very good party, and this year’s Worldcon, entitled Loncon 3, the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention, was hosted in the capital’s ExCeL Exhibition and Convention Centre. As per tradition, the event included the Hugo Awards.
The Hugos are a highly prestigious award, given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year. This year’s crop of winners has proven that the fandom continues to be mature, progressive, and forward thinking; though we’re a little surprised DOCTOR WHO didn’t win anything this time round. Geoff Ryman and Justina Robson presented the Hugo trophies, with bases designed by Joy Alyssa Day.
