No more overbidding for 2000AD classic Zenith any more as alien editor Tharg has announced he is publishing it again in a one-off plush £100 hardcover.

The Grant Morrison breakthrough, which brought him to the attention of DC, has been in a legal quagmire since its inception 26 years ago. Zenith hungry fans have made do with second-hand copies of the ‘phases’ (i.e. books) on eBay at record prices of £100 each.

Now the Mighty Tharg has revealed today that the legal issues blocking republication have been thwarted and Zenith is back.

Pre-orders begin July 1 and 1,000 copies of the 480-page black-and-white hardback illustrated by Morrison mate and long-time 2000AD art droid Steve Yeowell will be out in December 1 exclusively through the 2000AD online shop, priced £100. Zarjaz!

Bit pricey? What will get fans raring for this is the fact that the unpublished Phase IV will be seen for the first time, plus the chance to relive the trippy early Morrison days of Many Angled Ones, fractal storytelling and good old British cynicism in its spandex superheroes. Plus there’s back-up stories by Morrison and Mark Millar.

‘Zenith is the world’s first “Superbrat” – a vain, self-obsessed, egotistical pop singer whose only interests are girls, partying, and where he is in the charts. Yet he does not realise that there are mighty forces at work which seek to enslave the Earth – and use him to do it!’
