When Season 2 of The Flash came to a close with Teddy Sears’ Zoom becoming a deformed, twisted mess before being whisked away to his apparent doom, many longtime DC fans instantly thought we may see the character return as a take on Black Flash at some point in the future. Well, that could indeed be the case…

Speaking to EW about the potential to bring Zoom back as Black Flash, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Obviously we did that on purpose. We love working with Teddy. He’s such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren’t any immediate plans for that, but you can’t keep a good Black Flash down, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing him in the future.”

In the comic book realm, Black Flash is essentially the Speed Force’s version of the Grim Reaper, turning up to take fallen speedsters to their ultimate demise.

As Kreisberg mentioned, there’s no immediate plans for Black Flash to turn up, although it certainly seems as if it will be something that happens down the line, possibly before the upcoming third season comes to a close next year.

The Flash returns to US screens on October 3rd, with a UK return to follow shortly after.
