In some great news for fans of E.C. Tubb’s Dumarest of Terra series, we’ve received word today that Westwood Productions Limited (WPL) has acquired the option to adapt the international best-selling sci-fi books.

The official press release on this development reads as below:

E.C. Tubb’s acclaimed Dumarest of Terra ran for a total of 33 novels, published between 1967 and 2008. The stories garnered an international cult following, published in the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Netherlands, Sweden. They are still in print.

Each story is a self-contained adventure, but throughout the series, Earl Dumarest, the protagonist, searches for clues to the location of his home world, Earth.

Terry Marcel and Andrew Grocock of WPL negotiated the deal with Literary Agent Philip Harbottle, representing the Tubb Estate.

“This is one of the greatest space operas ever written” said Marcel. “It’s Spartacus in Space. I’m delighted to have the chance to develop the series and bring the character Earl Dumarest onto the screen”.

Grocock enthused, “We are so honored to have secured this incredible opportunity. Each book is a classic sci-fi adventure, making each TV episode a movie in its own right. We are thrilled to be adapting Dumarest into a television series”.

The project has already attracted interest from a production studio along with investment.

As ever, expect more on all of this as and when it develops.
