We’ve known it was ‘a thing’ for a while now, but finally we now know when can expect to see the sequel to this year’s Wonder Woman hitting the big screen.

Despite director Patty Jenkins having yet to sign
on for the follow-up, Warner Brothers has moved to confirm Wonder Woman 2 for a December 13th, 2019 release. Of course, while
Jenkins’ return has yet to be confirmed, Gal Gadot is indeed be back as the
famed Amazon.

To date, Wonder Woman has amassed $780 million at the global box office,
with the film wowing fans and critics far more than any of the other DCEU outings to
date. As such, many are hoping that Wonder
Woman
will be a turning of the tide for The WB’s DC pictures. While we’d
absolutely love that to be the case, we’ll just have to see how things play out
from here for the DCEU and whether lessons really have been learned from Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad.

Wonder
Woman 2
is one of only a handful of DCEU movies
with a set release date at this stage, joining November’s Justice League and December 2018’s Aquaman as the only films out of the multitude of DC-driven efforts
to have a confirmed release date booked in.

Still to be given release dates in this
shared cinematic realm are The Flash,
Cyborg, The Batman, Green Lantern
Corps.
, Shazam!, Black Adam, Gotham City Sirens, Suicide
Squad 2
, Batgirl, Nightwing, Justice League Dark, and seemingly a Man of Steel sequel. And even now, we’re
still not entirely sure that we’ve not missed another one or two off that
extensive list…

As ever, expect more on Wonder Woman 2 as it continues to
develop. Up next for Gadot’s Diana is an appearance in the aforementioned Justice League this November.
