With Leonard Nimoy’s Spock having appeared in both of J.J. Abrams’ recent STAR TREK movies, there was talk at one time that William Shatner’s James Tiberius Kirk would also make an appearance. The story goes, Shatner spat his dummy when he realised that his appearance would be no more than a cameo in the 2009 relaunch of the franchise. Now it appears that Shatner could very well make an appearance in the upcoming STAR TREK 3.

We know that Roberto Orci is going to be directing the next movie, so with Abrams no longer calling the shots it’s said that Shatner may make an appearance this time out. According to BadassDigest, the current version of STAR TREK 3’s script has a sequence in it that involves the older versions of both Spock and Kirk.

Treat this purely as a rumour for now, although with STAR TREK 3’s planned 2016 release date nicely coinciding with the franchise’s 50th anniversary, it certainly seems a plausible idea to give fans one more moment of classic Spock and Kirk.
