William Fichtner Joins INDEPENDENCE DAY 2

With cast members now being added at a steady basis, today sees William Fichtner added to the ranks of Independence Day 2.

Deadline is reporting that the actor, most recently seen by genre fans as Eric Sacks in last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, has signed on to play a top military general in Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day sequel.

In some other interesting news, it’s also being reported that Fichtner’s character will have an expanded role in the next two further entries in the series. There was talk that we may see a third Independence Day movie, but now it appears that there will be an additional two films after Independence Day 2.

Fichtner joins a cast that already includes Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Travis Tope, Joey King, Sela Ward and Maika Monroe.

At present, Independence Day 2 is currently set for a June 24th, 2016 release.
