In terms of remakes, reboots, reimaginings and redos, you can now add 1992’s White Men Can’t Jump to the list.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that a new take on the Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes-starrer will be written and produced by Kenya Barris, best known for creating ABC’s Black-ish. LA Clippers’ Blake Griffin and Carolina Panthers’ Ryan Kalil will be producing under their Mortal Media banner alongside Noah Weinstein. At present, Mortal Media are also developing a Rocketeer reboot and Barris is working on another Shaft remake. Oh, original ideas, whatever happened to those…

The original White Men Can’t Jump saw Harrelson and Snipes as a pair of street basketball hustlers, with Harrelson as loveable loser Billy and Snipes as the far savvier Sidney. Rosie Perez also starred as Gloria, the long-suffering, fiery girlfriend of Billy. The film took $90 million upon its release, and it has since gone on to become a favourite of many a movie fan.

Expect more on this as it develops.
