One of our favourite films of the last few years was Taika Waititi’s vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, and now comes word that a sequel-cum-spin-off is on the way.

Word came out last year that there was a follow-up in development, and Waititi has confirmed that the project will be his next feature following Thor: Ragnarok. Speaking to Crave Online, the director said, “Jemaine and I are trying to write a werewolf spin-off, yeah, so that will most likely be the next thing. It’s going to be called We’re Wolves, like ‘We are wolves’. We’re Wolves.”

What We Do in the Shadows, of course, featured the presence of a group of werewolves led by Flight of the Conchords’ Rhys Darby. There’s no news at this stage whether Darby or any of the other werewolves will be reprising their roles, although hopefully they do.

Having helmed the likes of the fantastic Eagle vs. Shark, the absolutely stunning Boy, and What We Do in the Shadows, one of the bigger sleeper hits of the last few years, it’s great to see Taika Waititi getting given the keys to part of the Marvel kingdom with Thor: Ragnarok, but it’s also awesome news to hear that he’ll be returning to a smaller feature once he’s done with the Thunder God.

Thor: Ragnarok is set for an October 2017 UK release, with the Son of Odin teaming up with The Hulk to stop a new, ominous threat.
