Treat this with a pinch of salt for now, but New York Daily News is reporting that Wesley Snipes is on the verge of returning to play famed vampire hunter, Blade.

Hot on the heels of his turn in THE EXPENDABLES 3, Snipes is looking to get his career back on track after having spent 2 ½ years in prison for tax evasion. This particular report even goes on to say that the 52-year-old has agreed a $3 million payday for his return to the character who he first played way back in 1998. That particular movie, along with Bryan Singer’s X-MEN, is often cited by many as starting the current boom of comic book movies. The cinematic rights to the Blade character have recently returned to Marvel after New Line Cinema put out a trilogy of Snipes-headed movies.

As mentioned, treat this purely as a rumour for now, as it seems odd that Marvel would be keen to continue a franchise that was developed elsewhere. Truth be told, a TV adaptation may be a better fit for the character. That said, there was 2006’s BLADE: THE SERIES, starring Kirk Jones, which only managed to run for one season.

Expect more on this as and when it develops.
