There’s a case that can be made to say that 1998’s Blade was the movie that kickstarted all of the superhero ‘boom’ that we see today. As such, fans often hope for another outing for Wesley Snipes’ vampire hunter. Well, it may, just may, happen yet.

Promoting The Player at San Diego Comic-Con, Snipes was asked about a possible fourth Blade by Deadline. The actor responded by saying, “The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”

When asked if he could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a different character, the actor said, “That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and it’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t do a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and others concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we had drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.”

With a Blade trilogy in the books already, it looks as if there could still be some life left in the Daywalker yet. Whilst Blade 4 isn’t on at this stage, it’s interesting to know that Marvel and Snipes have at least had talks about reprising a character last seen on the big screen in 2004’s Blade: Trinity.

Expect more on this if and when it develops.
