Wes Craven, one of the horror genre’s most creative and outspoken pundits has set his sights on the small screen. Bloody Disgusting has reported that Craven is closing in on a deal with NBC/Universal to produce shows for their channels such as Syfy, among others.

While Craven may very well be the driving force behind such cult classics as THE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and SCREAM, it looks as though the director has seen the shift in the status of TV to the humble horror fan. HANNIBAL, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, and PENNY DREADFUL all prove the genre’s success in an episodic narrative, so it comes as no surprise, really. Particularly since Craven’s SCREAM pilot is currently being developed by MTV.
