The latest issue of STARBURST includes our tribute to George A. Romero, who sadly passed away last month. In November, there will be an event in Manchester that will celebrate his work – Weekend of the Dead. Taking place at 235 Casino in the Great Northern complex on the 4th and  5th, it’s two days of fantastic guests and memories of the great man.

Now in its third year, Weekend of the Dead has grown since the debut at the marvellous Fab Café. More of a celebration than a convention, it’s a great excuse to hand around with like-minded fans and get to chat and mingle with the stars of the films. This year’s guests are truly amazing: special effects maestro Tom Savini, John Amplas (who appeared in several Romero films most notably Martin), and Judith O’Dea and Russ Streiner – the iconic brother and sister from the opening of Night of the Living Dead (“They’re coming to get you, Barbara”). Also appearing are Lori Cardille and Jarlath Conroy (Day of the Dead) and Lynn Lowry (The Crazies and Cronenberg’s Shivers).

The poster for the event was created by legendary poster artist Graham Humphreys, who will be also attending, and limited edition prints of the stunning work will be available to purchase.

Tickets for Weekend of the Dead are selling fast and are available from http://www.weekendofthedead.co.uk, where you can also find more details of what to expect.
