With a solo Wonder Woman movie now finally confirmed, all eyes are on just who will be given the responsibility of helming the film. Whilst no names have been linked at this stage, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Warner Brothers are looking for a female to take on the Amazon.

The lack of females both directing and starring in superhero films is a big topic of discussion recently, with both Disney/Marvel and Warner Bros./DC keen to have a female-focussed property to market. Whereas Marvel Studios is looking at the likes of Captain Marvel and Black Widow to possibly head up a female-led entry for them, Warners have WONDER WOMAN, starring Gal Gadot, pencilled in for a June 23, 2017 release.

As for names suggested for the WONDER WOMAN gig, in terms of action experience, PUNISHER: WAR ZONE’s Lexi Alexander is one name being speculated for the gig. Another is THE HURT LOCKER’s Kathryn Bigelow. These are both purely rumours and speculation at this point, mind.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
