Blizzard Entertainment is never one to relinquish the past, opting instead to embrace their rich heritage. Despite the saddening news that the studio has abandoned its impressive if cryptic TITAN project after seven years of development, good news have surfaced.

Up until the release of the MMORPG behemoth WORLD OF WARCRAFT, Blizzard had been churning out slick RTS games, the best of which was undoubtedly WARCRAFT 3. A new update to the company’s launcher has added background icons for the 2002 title. It looks as though the popular game is due a do-over, tweaked and streamlined for a re-release.

This news comes off the back of J. Allen Brack’s comments during last year’s Blizzcon,‘So, we actually have a guy on our team – actually several guys on our team – who are actually working on a side project to do something like that in some form or fashion.’ On the subject of a re-release, he added, ‘We’re fans of WARCRAFT 1, WARCRAFT 2, WARCRAFT 3, and we’d love to replay those games for sure.

While there’s no official announcements yet, this year’s Blizzcon is on November 7th.
