As soon as Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West appeared in the second season of The Flash, many longtime DC fans got their hopes up that the character will become a speedster of his very own at some point down the line. Well The CW and DC Entertainment have confirmed that Wally will indeed be suiting up in Season 3, and they’ve even gone as far as to release a couple of pictures of him in his flashy new duds.

When Season 3 returns, viewers will get to see Wally West take on the moniker of Kid Flash. In comic book lore, Wally actually debuted as Kid Flash back in 1959 before eventually going on to take over the mantle of The Flash following Barry Allen’s death during 1986’s Crisis on Infinite Earths mega arc.

What’s interesting about the upcoming third season of The CW’s Scarlet Speedster-centric show is that it will pull inspiration from Geoff Johns’ fan favourite Flashpoint comic book saga, in which Barry goes back in time to save his mother from being killed. As a result of that, the present day is a very different place; Barry has no superpowers; Bruce Wayne died that night in Crime Alley; Thomas Wayne is an alcoholic, violent Batman; Martha Wayne is The Joker; Kal-El was snatched up and kept as a military experiment as soon as he landed on Earth, meaning he never became Superman; Wonder Woman and Aquaman are in a fierce war against each other, destroying the planet as they do battle; and Cyborg is the world’s leading hero… and let’s face it, nobody likes Cyborg.

We’ve been promised that things may be a little different in present day Central City when The Flash returns later this year, and whether Wally West being Kid Flash is part of a new timeline created by Barry changing the past or whether it’s just part of the side-effects of the second particle accelerator explosion that took place last season remains to be seen.

Anyways, enough rambling from us. You want to see the rather impressive pictures, right? Check ‘em out below:
