Jeff Noon’s celebrated science fiction novel VURT is going to be turned into an RPG. The 1993 novel was set in an alternate version of Manchester, were the boundaries of reality and fantasy have been subverted by a hallucinogenic system called VURT.

Ravendesk Games have secured the permissions and licenses required to turn Noon’s surreal classic into a tabletop roleplaying game. The game promises to allow players to seamlessly move from the gritty, cyberpunk inspired version of Manchester, England to the dreamlike VURT world, where anything is possible.

The RPG will use Monte Cook Games Cypher System in order to let people play the various aliens, humans, robots, dogs, shadow beings and more exotic things that populate the VURT setting. The book will be a lavish affair, filled with background information and many, many vivid illustrations. It looks like the book might just be worth it as an addition to the VURT universe, never mind as an actual game.
